Telehealth Consent
Last updated: October 2026
1. What is telehealth?
Telehealth refers to the delivery of health services via electronic communications — including video and audio — rather than an in-person consultation. All Physician-Enabled Patient Therapies consultations are conducted via TGA-compliant telehealth platforms that meet Australian regulatory standards for the delivery of healthcare.
2. Consent to telehealth
By engaging in a telehealth consultation with a Physician-Enabled Patient Therapies practitioner, you consent to the use of telehealth for your clinical assessment and care. You understand that: the consultation is conducted by an AHPRA-registered practitioner; the consultation may be subject to technical limitations inherent in electronic communications; and your practitioner may, at their discretion, recommend an in-person assessment with a local practitioner if they consider it clinically necessary.
3. Limitations of telehealth
Telehealth consultations do not permit physical examination. Our practitioners are aware of this limitation and their clinical recommendations are made accordingly. In some cases, telehealth alone may not be sufficient for a full clinical assessment. If your practitioner believes this applies to you, they will advise you.
4. Privacy in telehealth
You should conduct your telehealth consultation in a private location. Your practitioner will also be in a private, professional environment. All telehealth sessions are conducted via encrypted, compliant platforms. Sessions are not recorded without explicit consent.
5. Technical requirements
You are responsible for ensuring you have a stable internet connection and a device capable of video consultation. If you experience technical difficulties, contact our team to reschedule.
6. Emergency situations
Telehealth is not appropriate for medical emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency during or at any time, call 000 immediately. Inform your practitioner if you believe you require emergency care.
